Working on My Fitness| My March Challenge-Goals

Hey folks!
I know it's been sometime now. I wanted to update my fitness progress and this month's goals. My goal weight is 150! Once I meet that goal, my main focus is to tone, tone, tone! When I first started my fitness journey in 2011 I was around 163-162. I am now at 157. My weight has been going UP & DOWN lately. I'm becoming quit annoyed so I've put certain goals in place in order to stay on track. I'll name a few below. All in all, 2013 is when I finally reached the 157 mark. During the end of 2011 and the end of 2012 I wasn't as consistent as I am today. It's been hard getting where I am today.
One major difference is how my clothes fit. They are super loose. I'm losing inches in my waist & thighs. That's the main important part of this. I can't get so caught up in what the scale says. Numbers matter when I'm doing measurements.

Onward....

March Goals: March 8th-March 30th

- 2-3 cups of green tea
- raw veggies & fruits
-Juice or smoothies once a day
- workout 4-5days a week (the least 30mins)
- no gym days: 30min workout
-plank everyday for 30 seconds
- a gallon of water
I can't wait to reap the rewards of being so consistent this month.
I have a few items/things in mind to reward myself...I'll share that in another post.

What are some of your fitness goals?
Have any healthy recipes you would like to share?

Time To Reflect....2011/2012 Goals

This post was intended on being posted before 2012 came around...It was left in my draft's....No bueno.

So I was reading my blogger friends Rose from Rosedale's post regarding a bucket list. She basically refocused on a few things she wants to get done before we approach the new year & what she's already done. I thought it be great to reflect back on some of my goals.

-Starting my career: Although I was pushing & still am, for a full time job, I'm thankful for the position I have now. Especially the organization I work for. They are awesome & it'll look great on my resume :)
I'm would love to start doing something that I have passion for & can't live a day without.

-Get my mentoring program going: Mentoring Young Girls is somewhat official. More official than what it was in January 2011 when I started it all by myself. We're currently working on workshops, a giveaway for young girls on our Facebook (if any small businesses would like to help/donate please email us at mentoringyg@gmail.com) We're also looking forward to having a mother daughter event as well.

-God: I've had more time to think & made more time to connect with Him. Although I'm not as close I want to be, I'm working at it :)

-Moving: I've been talking about moving out of state ever since I was in college & more so lately. I'm ready for a different atmosphere. I love Cali but I wouldn't mind being in another state. I always thought I would be living in ATL...but the wind has blown me in a new direction. I'll share that once it's official.

-Scholarship: In June I raised money for a scholarship I started under my programs name (MY Girls aka Mentoring Young Girls) for the AVID students at my alma mater (HS).

-Business: I've been looking into branching off & starting my own business in something fashion related. I've always wanted to own my own business since Middle School, so I may just pursue that very soon.

HI....BYE!

Yup, this will be quick. I'm doing more than one thing at once right now, plus I need to prepare for a conference call. But any who
 HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!
We made it another year. If anything, I'm thankful for that.

I'll be starting a clear skin challenge on my beauty blog
Working out again... 30 day Shred
And I was thinking about doing another hair challenge as well. I think that'll be too much right now though.
I may just wait till summer time when I'll need the most TLC for my natural hair.
I do plan on going on a fast. I did this the beginning mid-2011
I feel so cluttered & a bit overwhelmed about up coming projects & decisions.
All in all, I'll be praying about it.
Speaking of prayer, I need to buy a new journal.
I usually use it to write down my thoughts of course, prayers, and things of that nature.

I'm going to try my best to get back to blogging over here.
With work & trying to maintain a somewhat healthy life, it gets hard.

Random: A Woman...Is AMAZING

Being a woman...you have to show that you're better than the NORM...
You're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't...
They want to make US feel like we're the issue...
We're difficult to understand....we're NOT human.
How so? When we're the ones birthing YOU.
What does that make YOU?

I'm sure your mom didn't raise a fool...
Yet you act like one...
You let go what is yours & get heated when you shouldn't have ever let it go.

They look at US like we're crazy?
Why?
Because we bleed for a few days? Or maybe even a whole week (SEVEN AWESOME DAYS)
Or maybe because we fight for what is right!?
Or because we fight for what we love...people we care about?
We work ourselves to death...losing ourselves, attached to someone ELSE along the way?

We cater to our dreams & aspirations...
But yet we're labeled stuck up...prissy
ALRIGHT, I'll take that.
Because why?
I'll let my work speak for itself...

My voice, a pen & paper wouldn't be able to tell you what we're capable of...
At the end of the day we leave you amazed...
& you'll never let her know how great of a woman she is...

Old Post: I'm Going To Need A Strong Support System

So0o0 when I started this blog, I was transferring old post from my beauty blog GlamNoLabelz to here because those didn't fit the topics I cover over there. So, I brought them here. This was posted 12/31/10. This will give a little more information about me, & challenges I started. It's written in the past tense to my readers over there. But you get the idea.

So, I come to share something cool with you all. I have so many things lined up for myself for the year of 2011. I feel like I've been doing work non-stop since I've graduated on Dec. 11th. But I can say what I have in store for myself is much more FUN then studying lol.

1. I'll be participating in a natural hair challenge with Mop Top Maven. I'll basically be keeping track of my hair regimen and continue to keep my hair moisturized and wearing protective styles that my hair will benefit from. Overall, keeping my hair healthy and allowing it to grow better and stronger. {I STARTED THIS CHALLENGE MAY, 2011}

2. I'm participating in a fitness challenge as well. Super stoked about this. MissJia (one of my fave bloggers) is putting on this challenge. It's not a strict challenge at all. She has made a forum  called http://www.fiercefitfab.com/ where we can encourage one another, and share tips, recipes and other great things on our journey. {I AM NO LONGER PARTICIPATING IN THIS CHALLENGE/MESSAGE BOARD. I STAY ABOARD JAN-MARCH}.

3. I finally have time to put towards my nonprofit organization. I've been wanting to have my own program/organization for sometime now, and 2011is the time & deadline for me to get the wheels rolling. I'm still working out the details, but I'll be mentoring middle-high school girls in my community in Southern California. I've already reached out to one young lady that attends the same church as I do, and have been keeping in contact & recently met with one another one-on-one. I also have a blog for my nonprofit journey http://www.mentoringyounggirls.blogspot.com/ (This isn't the official name for it).
The other step that I've taken is printing networking cards (from VistaPrint) to hand out to parents and others that could help me spread the word about my organization.

4. Accomplishing these goals, along with others that I'm working on for my VISION BOARD :)

Overall, I'm going to need support for this long, but rewarding journey. I'm thinking about putting together a contact list of individuals that want & need support for certain things & wouldn't mind having someone by their side and will keep in contact with one another. I've noticed many of us have few things going...Like Kerissa-In a PhD program, Alex-Mamavation/Obtaining her BA, and Kinah-Mentoring the youth in her community. That's just to name a few & those that I have/having the pleasure in getting to know.

Thank you for the love & support. I am extending my arms to you all if you're in need of a support system. Sometimes doing it alone, and being your own cheerleader does indeed get lonely. Or maybe you just need that little PUSH.

Intro: 2011 Healthy Hair Challenge

This challenge originally started in Jan of this year by The MopTop Maven. In Feb. she posted that she was sick, and she would start posting once she was feeling better. I haven't seen a new post since then, and I hope that she's doing okay. I know some have continued the journey without MopTop Maven's guidance. Either way, she posted tips on how to have a steady hair regimen for the course of six months & other helpful tips.

[Picture] The MopTop Maven: My hair inspiration.

So, like I stated in a past post, I'll be starting this challenge May 6th, which is a Friday. I'll be mapping out my hair regimen for the month (as it may change each month depending on the stage my hair is in). I'll also be video tapping my journey (won't be posting that, def. camera shy...lol) as a way of be documenting the changes my hair may goes through. And the products I will be using.

This challenge is not only going to help me have a steady regimen, and healthy hair, but to retain and accomplish hair growth. My hair is down to my shoulders right now (I've been trimming since Jan, every month/every other week). I'm transitioning so, my hair has more than 2 two different textures going on. I do plan on cutting off MOST of my relaxed hair the day I start the challenge so I can start fresh & see where it leads me. I hope to achieve between shoulder length-bra strap length. As I will be cutting the relaxed ends off, my hair will be shorter, so that is why I say shoulder length.

I wanted to share this because I'm looking for a buddy along this journey who may want to do this as well, or inspire someone to want to take better care of their hair. As MopTop Maven said, you could be relaxed and still want to retain healthy hair, so you're more than welcome.

I'm not very well educated when it comes to natural hair, I'm learning MY hair as I go. So yea, I'm no expert. May 6th, I will be more specific on what type of texture my hair is, some of the products I will be using in a blog post.

I'll also be incorporating different articles, blog posts, YouTube videos that maybe helpful along the way as well. So if you're interested leave a comment, even if you're not & you just want to share, speak on something that's fine also.

I will be ending my journey with this challenge Nov. 6th. after that I will be using what works for my hair & keep my regimen simple. Because it really doesn't have to be difficult in order to reach these goals.

I'm Still Here!!!!

So I've abandoned this blog since I've started blogging back at http://www.glamnolabelz.com/

My personal blog really got me through a lot of things that were and still going on. Situations are lighter, my relationship with God is closer than ever, and trying to maintain a relationship with my God takes time.  Aside from that, I've been so dedicated in raising money for a Essay Contest for AVID high school Seniors in my community (Where I graduated from), that have been accepted to a university for Fall 2011. This essay contest/project is dear to me.

Overall I've been trying to get donations from any & everyone. Big or small. Working on something like this takes a lot of work, and a bit stressful. I myself don't have a job. I know quit a few people that would love to donate but, they have been hit hard by the economy as many of us have. So I had to make new relationships, and tweet about this as often as I could without being a pest & looking like a spammer lol.

I never thought I could pull something like this off, but I have.

It's crazy ...because I was in a dark place, and the storm didn't seem like it would ever be over. In the mist of it all, I found ways to ease my pain a little. Reading the bible, talking to God, writing, talking to women who believe in the Lord, and this essay contest.

When I'm determined to do something, it gets done ON time without a doubt. Not to sound like I'm bragging, but when I was in college (Ewww, I sound old saying that lol) it would be the week of finals/midterms and I had papers that were due that week, I would start them that week, turn it in ON time and get a great grade on it. Nothing less than a B+ ever.

I'm not afraid to say I'm great at what I do. As one of my followers said, and I just read her post (well two ladies), I can't recall who said it, but it was about dreams. Things are easier said than done & I agree. There's a lot that we want to do, but where do you start? Or how?

I say go for it, and as you're in the process of making it happen learn as you go.

My mentoring program is just ONE of the many things that I want & plan to do. I wouldn't mind starting my own business, doing some PR work, & other things. Remember we're not limited.

Thank you for the comments & love. I look forward to getting to know you all :)
