Lent...

Today is the official day that Lent starts. It is said you can start whenever, but I feel comfortable starting the day of. I've been contemplating on participating because this is said to be more of a Catholic tradition than Christian. I did my research and it seems as if Christians do it as well.

Anyways, there is a purpose for me doing this and it's to get closer to God. So I have chosen this challenge. A few things I have given up are:

Social network sites, & worrying. And in place of those things I'm reading my bible more & praying throughout this process, and giving more attention towards my up&coming mentoring program/nonprofit.

I wasn't going to share this because fasting is something that is suppose to be kept between you & God. But maybe by me sharing this will give someone an insight of this.

I plan to go for the full 40 days. I pray that I make it till then.

Day 17 - your high and lows of this year

I would have to say for one, this economy is totally getting the best of me. I recently graduated from college & have yet to land a job. It's VERY disappointing, stressful, & depressing. Stupid BUSH! All his fault. Now people are upset with Obama, spare me please!

High, reconnecting with a special person. It's been lovely.

Low, dealing with different things that have occurred in my life. I'm maintaining now & I can't complain.

High, & probably my highest of this year thus far. Is seeing another year & celebrating my birthday last month :)

Day 16 - your views on mainstream music

I feel like mainstream music isn't the greatest.
The music that's constantly being played on the radio, TV is overrated and meaningless.

I miss music that had meaning, other than just a nice beat with explicit lyrics throughout the song.

Just about everything that is out, isn't true to the artist, but their label.
Therefore, they make music that'll sale.

Sucks...

Day 15 - your favorite tumblrs

I'm on tumblr you can follow me:
I don't have any favorites.

Day 14 - Your earliest memory (Sunday)

My earliest memory. Hmmm.
I can't recall. One I would like to speak on is when I was younger, and my father was living, and I was able to call him up & talk to him, & tell him stories.

Stories, I would make up from the top of my head. Random. He would listen & laugh, an repeat a few lines I had said. It let me know he was actually playing attention.

I miss that. I miss him.

Day 11 - Somewhere you'd like to move or visit (Saturday)

I would love to move to Atlanta, GA. Why? Because for one I have family out there that I would love to be closer to & get to know. I've been there before, and it was for a few days. I really love the the atmosphere there.

There are many places I would love to visit. I actually made a list. I may share that here at a later time.

Day 10 - discuss your first love and first kiss. (Wednesday)

My first kiss was when I was 16 is I can recall. I was in HS. HA! in the mall I think. Crazy.

Day 9 - how you hope your future will be like. (Tuesday)

I hope my future is filled with with prosperity, success, love, happiness & much more.

I see myself having a business, a successful mentoring program/non profit, a family and a home of my own. I know through God anything I put my mind and heart into, it will happen. I don't say this out of hope, but I know.

Career wise, I'm hoping I know what exactly I want to do. Although I stated I wanted to own a business, but I see myself doing more.

I'm rambling now lol...

Day 8 - a moment you felt the most satisfied with your life

I would have to say most recently. Before then, I was feeling stressed, annoyed, overwhelmed etc. Now I'm back at peace with myself and current situations. I've left my load with God. I can't handle it, so I'm leaving it up to him. The best way to get by.

There's been a few other times, but I rather go with my most recent right now. Turning 25 and being put in the situations I've had to deal with made me a little more stronger.

I'm a strong individual as it is, but with different things that occur in life, it makes me wiser and that more conscious about life. That I'm still living.

Day 5 - a time you thought about ending your own life (Fridays)

Wow...a touchy subject for me.

Anyone can feel the need to judge someone, but I leave that up to God. You never know what someone maybe going through. I'm not saying because someone maybe going through that it's right, because it's not.

But yes I have. But I'm still here.

My Junior year in HS-Junior year in college were the hardest times in my life.
I lost my father in 2004, right after Prom & right before my graduation..the hardest thing I dealt with.

Throughout my college career, I had to attend at least one funeral a year...imagine that (friend, cousins, great aunts, 2 grandmothers, aunt, and a uncle)...Imagine that...

One person that really made me realize things, was my ex...who is now... (see birthday blog post for explanation) lol, but he had really helped me through many hard times. He's  been there for me through it all. A blessing in disguise he was. He really put things in perspective for me. I thanked God for bringing him into my life.

People really don't know what others maybe going through. Life is hard, so I'm just trying to get by.

Day 4 - your views on religion. (Thursdays)

Def. of religion

re·li·gion

the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefsand practices: a world council of religions.
4.
the life or state of a monk, nun, etc.: to enter religion.
5.

6.
something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point ormatter of ethics or conscience: to make a religion of fightingprejudice.

re·li·gious

of, pertaining to, or concerned with religiona religiousholiday.
2.
imbued with or exhibiting religion pious; devout; godly: areligious man.
3.
scrupulously faithful; conscientious: religious care.

Am I religious?

I would have to say yes. 2004 was when I really started getting close to God (When I went away to college). Although I wasn't able to attend church like I wanted to, I always kept Him in my daily life. There has been times where I had fallen off. But today is what matters. I've done many different things to get closer to God. Praying & meditating throughout the day. Reading scriptures, doing my duties as a Christian woman & much more. I've changed my ways. I've never been that wild & crazy chick in college. & although I have graduated, I'm not turning into that girl now. Not my thing.

No offense to anyone, but that's not my thing. I'm just trying to better myself and get closer to God, and surrounding myself with Christ like beings. You need to be around those you want to be like. Learn and pray for one another.

This is so off topic...back on topic

But my views on religion is that I serve only one God. If you don't that's fine & on you. It's important to me, and I don't judge others that feel otherwise.

Day 3 - your views on drugs and alcohol

My views on drugs is a no go. I don't do them. Many people abuse it.

My views on alcohol is I like wine or a nice drink from time to time. Never been drunk a day in my life.
I feel like many females need to learn how to control their alcohol intake when out & about. Rape isn't a joke.

That's all I have to say about that...

Day 2 - where you’d like to be in 10 years

Where would I like to be in 10 years. In 10 years I'll be 35. Eeeeks! Crazy how time flies.

By then I'll have my dream car, living out of state somewhere (or maybe in Cali), have my own business or nonprofit successfully running.  & hopefully happily married & blessed with a child.

I would love to have a family of my own.

Day 1 - your current relationship

I'm currently single. Have been single since Jan. 20 something 2011. But mentally since July 2010. Yup pretty much. Single life is...allowing me to get to know myself as a (going on 25 yr old woman).  I was so use to being in a relationship for 3yrs and some months (almost 4). I can't say I lost myself because I haven't. BUT, it's a change from what I'm use to. Even through the distance we had.

Single life is fine. It's the breakup that's a process. I don't have an issue being alone. But it's difficult right now because I'm healing from a broken heart. It's a task, but I know I'll get through it.
