Working on My Fitness| 26-Days of Squats Challenge

I'm going to keep this short & sweet!
I plan on starting today doing a squat challenge.
I saw where Youtube beauty vlogger Montana Deleon posted a picture on Instagram: @MontanaDeleon of her results of doing squats for 30 days.
The results are in the squats!

I plan on starting out today & ending 4/31
-Each day I will add 5-10 squats on top of the prior day
-Every 3 days I will rest *from doing squats*

Today I did 60 squats which means tomorrow I need to do 65 or 70.
Thursday will be a rest day & so on...get it?
Here's my before....
Ps. I'm 4lbs away from weighing 130!!!
I thought this goal would be enough for me, but I'm not where I want to be.
My stomach needs major work. So I'll be focusing on the ab workouts as well
Wish me luck!

Heat Training...April Hair Routine

When I started heat training was Feb. 17th the day before my birthday....

At that time, I had planned on washing (shampooing) my hair once/twice a month, but co-wash as needed. I started off slow. Since most of my shampoos have sulfates in them & really cleanse the hair, I don't need wash it every week. What I do need is moisture & TLC to my hair.

Currently doing...

So this month (April) & what I've been doing since March is washing my hair once a month, but co-washing it every week. This week I'll be straightening my hair again. Last weekend I straighten my hair twice for Easter Sunday & that was it. I may blog about the process of me heat training. Nothing different than any other time. Just extra steps to make sure I don't cause any breakage.

April Routine...

So this months routine consist of 1 wash (which I did last weekend), co-wash each week, & straighten my hair every other week. & the days I don't wear it straight I'll add moisture, conditioner (mix) & Shea butter mixture I made. OMG I forgot to mention I finally got my hands on some unrefined Shea butter. Yessssssssssssss BABY!

Any who, again...my whole reason for switching off weeks of straightening my hair is to loosen my curls, & allow the detangling process to be much more pleasant. Detangling is a VERY important part in a curly girls life like me. I have coarse hair which means easy breakage & it's harder to retain the length. And it's a headache 99.9% of the time. I've found that I need to start trimming my hair once a month or as needed (More often).

Although I have been slacking on my hair since Nov. when my hair challenge ended & I added some hair color to my hair, I am back to my length I started with before doing the BC in May 2011.

Video...right on time!

Check out the video below of one of my favorite Youtubers AlexandraBond who went to a salon in ATL. This is another salon I'd like to check out when I go there.
I like the stylists "Elecia's" technique/routine with "her hair"...similar to mine.
You can fast fwd to the part I'm referring--> 6:50 where she explains how hydrating is important for curly/straight hair or watch the whole video

Update [15] 2011 Hair Challenge-My Curl Pattern

This picture was taken about a month ago...I just thought I show a glimpse of what my hair pattern looks like. It's not a very good picture.

FYI. this was hair that I detangled after having my hair in plat braids...I have tight, coily, curls..more bitter than sweet for me.

You can also check out my past post: Share Your Hair Type where I talk a little about the texture of my hair...etc.

Update: Closing A Chapter & New Beginnings

Here's a little update on me...This week started off really rocky. Sunday night I was feeling so down, & all I could think about was my dad. How much I wish he was here. How much I wish I could take flowers to his mausoleum etc. The next morning I meditated and talked to God. I was so eager to find his obituary. & come to find out it, that Sunday was his death anniversary. Why isn't that something I know right off top you ask? I just don't. Like I mentioned in my last post, I am now able to deal with things I wasn't able to deal with 6+ years ago. Anyways, so I was glad I was able to confront that situation.
Affirmations: I need to start back on focusing on two positive affirmations about myself a week. I've been slacking because I haven't been writing them down.

Also, I'm coming to an end for Lent (Sunday). I'm super proud of myself. This journey has been something else. I won't share all of the details because it's between me & God. But it was an interesting experience indeed.

Random tweet: So I saw this tweet that one of my followers had retweeded that described a blog post I did called "Once You're Down, Aint Nobody Around"
The tweet was: "Fake friends are like shadows, always near you at your brightest moments, but nowhere to be seen at your darkest hour"
How about that?

On to Health: Looking into joining a 30 day challenge that I can do at home. I do well when participating in challenges, so I'm back on my work out grind.

I'll be starting a 6 month hair growth for my natural hair journey. Super duper excited about this. I've been natural/transitioning for 9 months. No perms for me! & no shade to those that use them. With this challenge, I'll be more on top of things when it comes to maintaining length and a regimen.

Positive Affirmation Challenge

I've decided late last night (Tuesday) that once a week I'm going to focus on repeating something positive about myself many times throughout the day or when I think about it. For example "I'm a loving person". It's almost in relations to the whole "Practice makes perfect", but instead if you repeat positive things about yourself.

When you repeat whatever it is you're trying to enforce, it makes you think about it. You have to believe in YOU to allow this to work.

As I'm going through different things, I find that this could be helpful. So this week I'm focusing on one thing, then I'll switch it up next Tuesday. It'll be helpful to write down whatever it is you're focusing on.

This not only allows you to learn about yourself, but love yourself for who you are and not for who you may portray, or would like to be.
