What Do YOU Do To Help The Poor?

I took this excerpt from one of the plans I was reading from the YouVersion app on my iPhone.


The need for believers to care for the poor is a constant theme in Scripture. But often we do nothing, caught up in meeting our own needs and desires. Perhaps we don't see enough poverty to remember the needs of the poor. The world is filled with poor people, here and in other countries. What can you do to help?

I got this from a plan I was reading a month ago from the app You Version...


Have you ever grown tired of praying for something or someone? Paul says we should "devote" ourselves to prayer and be "alert" in prayer. Our persistence is an expression of our faith that God answers our prayers. Faith shouldn't die if the answers come slowly, for the delay may be God's way of working his will in our lives. When you feel tired of praying, know that God is present, always listening, always answering-maybe not in ways you had hoped, but in ways that he knows are best.


A great reminder typing this out...Keep praying & stand firm in your faith.

Surrender & Seek...

Surround yourself with a variety of people. Carefully select those who have the skills or talents that you do not possess. Seek the people who have the same spirit of excellence that you have or aspire to develop.


Ultimately, ask God to raise up people who are problem solvers, character builders, need fulfillers and answers to prayers in your life.


As you enlist helpers for your vision, remember that you are also a helper in someone else's journey.

Return To That Goal, Dream or Vision...

In your life journey, there will be setbacks and possibly even failures. There will certainly be situations that you did not plan for. There were many attempts to the moon before the first successful manned mission of Apollo 11. Do not be influenced or discouraged by your previous failed attempts. The God who has given you the vision will give you victory.


If you have done something wrong that has the potential to jeopardize your mission, repent today. Lay it at the foot of the cross in the presence of God.


Make a decision not to repeat your past mistake. View failure as a learning opportunity rather than a destination or life sentence.


Persistence and determination are two essential ingredients to a successful space mission.


Return to that abandoned goal, dream or vision that is essential to your arrival on the moon. Face it, overcome it and conquer your Ai.

Your Part Is NOT Insignificant...

The word of God spread like ripples on a pond where, from a single center, each wave touches the next, spreading wider and farther. The gospel still spreads this way today. You don't have to change the world single-handedly-it is enough just to be part of the wave, touching those around you, who in turn will touch others until all have felt the movement. Don't ever feel that your part is insignificant or unimportant.

None of these Christians felt that what they had was their own, and so they were able to give and share, eliminating poverty among them. They would not let a brother or sister suffer when others had plenty. How do you feel about your possessions? We should adopt the attitude that everything we have comes from God, and we are only sharing what is already his.

Problem solvers are sought after, paid more and shown greater respect than problem creators or finders.


Make your mark, leave your footprints on the moon and become a solution to somebody's dilemma.

All around you are people who need you. Your role might be act as an evangelist sharing the Gospel, or to serve others as a witness to Christ, or to be a good example of Christ at your work place.


Whatever you do, fulfill the need to the glory of God.

Life Application: Suffering-A Reminder

A common belief in Jewish culture was that calamity or suffering was the result of some great sin. But Christ used this man's suffering to teach about faith and to glorify God. We live in a fallen world where good behavior is not always rewarded and bad behavior not always punished.


Therefore, innocent people sometimes suffer. If God took suffering away whenever we asked, we would follow him for comfort and convenience, not out of love and devotion. Regardless of the reasons for our suffering, Jesus has the power to help us deal with it.


When you suffer from a disease, tragedy, or disability, try not to ask, "Why did this happen to me?" or "What did I do wrong?" Instead, ask God to give you strength for the trial and a clearer perspective on what is happening.

Just a reminder to myself & others...

Part 2: Let Go, Let God...

It's 8 something in the morning. I'm somewhat half sleep...Since I got a great response from the first post, there was something I wanted to share with everyone. The other day, I was reading one of the lesson plans on the Bible app I have on my iPhone. It's called YouVersion. I know this app is compatible for iPhone & BlackBerry users. It's free, so check it out! It maybe available for other phones as well.


Back to the post...I was reading Day 140 of the plan which is Life Application. It said:
God's messenger described a time of trial when even wise believers may stumble. This could mean (1) falling into sin, (2) being fearful and losing faith, (3) mistakenly following wrong teaching, or (4) experiencing severe suffering & martyrdom. If we preserve in our faith, any such experience will ONLY refine us and make us stronger. Are you facing trials? Recognize them as opportunities to strengthen your faith. If we remain steadfast in these experiences, we will be stronger in OUR faith & closer to God.
It then gives you a scripture at the end -Daniel 11:35


I knew I had to share this with you all. I also needed to write this down somewhere for myself. It def. moved me. Time & time again I tell myself "Ashley, use this time wisely. Use this time to get closer to God". I mean, the main important part is having a relationship with him, & serving him. It's always great to tell others what He's done for us. I hope this was helpful to someone :)

I'm Still Here!!!!

So I've abandoned this blog since I've started blogging back at http://www.glamnolabelz.com/ 


My personal blog really got me through a lot of things that were and still going on. Situations are lighter, my relationship with God is closer than ever, and trying to maintain a relationship with my God takes time.  Aside from that, I've been so dedicated in raising money for a Essay Contest for AVID high school Seniors in my community (Where I graduated from), that have been accepted to a university for Fall 2011. This essay contest/project is dear to me.


Overall I've been trying to get donations from any & everyone. Big or small. Working on something like this takes a lot of work, and a bit stressful. I myself don't have a job. I know quit a few people that would love to donate but, they have been hit hard by the economy as many of us have. So I had to make new relationships, and tweet about this as often as I could without being a pest & looking like a spammer lol.


I never thought I could pull something like this off, but I have.


It's crazy ...because I was in a dark place, and the storm didn't seem like it would ever be over. In the mist of it all, I found ways to ease my pain a little. Reading the bible, talking to God, writing, talking to women who believe in the Lord, and this essay contest.


When I'm determined to do something, it gets done ON time without a doubt. Not to sound like I'm bragging, but when I was in college (Ewww, I sound old saying that lol) it would be the week of finals/midterms and I had papers that were due that week, I would start them that week, turn it in ON time and get a great grade on it. Nothing less than a B+ ever.


I'm not afraid to say I'm great at what I do. As one of my followers said, and I just read her post (well two ladies), I can't recall who said it, but it was about dreams. Things are easier said than done & I agree. There's a lot that we want to do, but where do you start? Or how?


I say go for it, and as you're in the process of making it happen learn as you go.


My mentoring program is just ONE of the many things that I want & plan to do. I wouldn't mind starting my own business, doing some PR work, & other things. Remember we're not limited.
